    1. One Thousand and One Arabian Nights

      Author: various, collected stories dating back to approximately 800-900 AD. 

    2. Fight Club

      Author: Chuck Palahniuk. First published 1996, pop culture phenomenon, made into a movie with Brad Pitt and Ed Norton in 1999.

      Textual relevance: Clio convinces Eric she can lie in the hammock in Greece and read the book during second decoded Light Bulb Fragment.

    3. Invention of Solitude: A Memoir

       

      Author: Paul Auster. First published in 1982. The first half, “Portrait of an Invisible Man” is a memoir about the author’s father discovered by tracking down his artifacts; the second half is called “The Book of Memory.”

      Textual relevance: the book First Eric Sanderson reads while on vacation in Naxos Greece

    4. Crooked Cucumber

      Author: Shunryu Suzuki’s; it's a biography written by David Chadwick; Eric calls it erroneously "an autobiography"

      Textual Relevance: new book picked up in Greece by First Eric Sanderson; already read the author’s Zen Flesh, Zen Bones
